The Secrets Of Healthy Hair

Everyone wants their hair to look healthy and lustrous. Modern lifestyles and excessive use of hair products can cause a lot of hair damage. Here are some tips to help you maintain healthy hair.

Hair types

Long hair - having long hair can give you a lot of versatility. Tangling is one of the major drawbacks, but this can be lessened by detangling hair before washing. It is always best to finish your hair wash with cold water, as this enhances the sheen of the hair. Conditioner should be used at the ends of your hair to prevent splitting. Air drying is best, and if you do have to blow dry, use a low heat setting to prevent heat damage.

Curly hair - this hair type causes many problems as it's susceptible to frizziness. Products such as hair spray for shaping contain alcohol, which can cause dryness. Always detangle when your hair is wet, and use a wide tooth comb. Straightening products should be used with caution, as they contain chemicals that can damage your hair with extended use. If you really want to straighten your hair,  it's best to use steam straightening devices, set to low temperatures.

Fine hair - shorter hair styles are much better for this hair type. Fine hair generally cannot take the weight of longer hair styles. Avoid excessive blow drying and curling irons, as this leads to brittle hair and split ends. If possible, buy hair care products that do not use harsh detergents such as sodium lauryl sulphate.

Frizzy hair -the problem of frizzy hair is caused by curly hair,  heat and humidity. The key to dealing with frizzy hair is moisturizer. It's important to choose products that offer replenishment and moisture to your hair. Do not use blow dryers or curling irons on frizzy hair. Use an occasional treatment on your hair, such as jojoba oil, and avoid shampooing daily.
