i am 18 years old, I've had my first period in two years in June. I went on birth control my sophomore year in high school and hated it. I wasnt in control of my emotions so i took myself off of it. Can I still have children then?

I'm 23 years old now I got my period when I was 16 not on its own I thought it was not normal to be 16 without my period So I went to Planned Parenthood and they gave me a pill to start my cycle, since then I really never had a regular period. Since I was about 18 I was only getting my period once to twice year now it's been 2 and a half 3 years that I haven't had my period. I've been to the doctors about 4 years ago about it and they told me that it's normal because how athletic i am. I met only four other girls that's the same exact way I really want to get my period and want to be normal again, a lot of people would not agree with me and think it's nice not to have their period but I feel like a dude I want to be a lady again and get my period.. please help..??

I got my first period when I was 15 and didn't have one again until about a year later when my ob/gyn put me on birth control. At 16 I was diagnosed with PCOS and was told it was the cause for not having a period. I had large cysts on in my ovaries that they wanted to try to shrink in size with the help of BC. I bled terribly from the pills, heavy and for long periods of time. At one point I bled consecutively for 2 months straight. I faithfully took the BC though because she said it would help and the cysts caused a lot of pain and made it hard for me to be active. About 10 months after I was diagnosed with PCOS, my ob/gyn decided surgery was the best option. The birth control was not shrinking the cysts it and was wreaking havoc on my body. After the surgery I was told that I would probably never conceive a child and if by chance I did there would be complications because of the amount of scar tissue in my ovaries and fallopian tubes would most likely make it an ectopic pregnancy. She still wanted me to take the birth control, which I only did for about another year before I gave up on it entirely. I always figured I'd never be able to have children. I didn't ever try until my first serious relationship. We were together for 3 years and the last two of it we tried to conceive. In those three years I had maybe ten periods. He would try to console me and convince me he was the one with the problem, not me. When we went our separate ways he ended up getting the next girl pregnant within couple months. They ended up having four kids together. I gave up on the idea of ever having a baby. It was heart breaking. Since then I've gotten married. My husband and I have been together for right at seven years (married 1-1/2 years). Honestly we have never used any protection or birth control. We were both tested for stds/stis, were monogamous, and I couldn't get pregnant. I had on average four to five periods a year. There were some times I'd go without a period for six or eight months, but then I would get it five consecutive months in a row. A couple years ago we decided to take advantage of those months I was having a period to try to conceive. We always figured if I wasn't having a period then I'm not ovulating and can't conceive. I never got pregnant. At this point, I was in my late twenties and tired of the emotional turmoil so I decided to give up on the idea that I would ever have a baby. My periods in the last two years nearly stopped. I had two periods in 2013 and only one so far in 2014. In July last year I thought I might be pregnant. I took several tests because I was convinced, but I never got a positive reading. I ended up miscarrying at the end of that month. That was one of the most traumatic and emotional events in my entire life. To have a miscarriage meant that at one point I was pregnant, which meant I WAS able to conceive. At the same time I worried that was my only chance to have a baby or that it was a result of what my doctor had warned me about. After the miscarriage I bled for several weeks in a row. I didn't get a period again until the middle of February of this year. That is the only period I've had so far. In June I started feeling like I did last year. I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. The doctor said I was due in November since my last cycle was in February. He scheduled an ultrasound right away to get a better idea of how far along I was. It turns out I was only about four weeks pregnant when I found out and five weeks at the time of the ultrasound. At the time I got pregnant my husband and I were in the process of moving 100 miles away, looking for new jobs, and getting the new house in order. We only had sex two times in a matter of a couple months and I know 100% for a fact I did not have a period or any spotting since February. My periods are so irregular I have to keep track of them to know when my last one was. It is possible to get pregnant without having a period. And it is possible to have a baby with PCOS. I'm 22 weeks now and everything is going great. I have a big healthy baby girl growing inside of me that has not had any complications so far. I would love to be able to have more than one child, but if this is all I get I am still happy. To live with the fear and anguish of never having the ultimate female experience; never get to experience pregnancy or child birth or having my own offspring ; it was all killing me. I saw no purpose to carry on if I couldn't even procreate and have someone to pass life onto. I felt like I wasn't a real woman. I still don't know how I got pregnant the way I did. It's our little miracle baby. I hope she doesn't have the same struggle that I've had to deal with. I have two other sisters than have also been diagnosed with PCOS. I wonder if stressing out so much made it harder to get pregnant. When my husband and I finally came to terms with never having children I got pregnant. We were even looking into and considering becoming foster parents until we found out we're expecting. It's strange how that works. So there's still hope out there, even if it's just for a miracle. Also, in my opinion birth control is terrible. It messed me up so bad. I was also given something called Metformin, which is typically medicine for diabetics, but they found it helps ladies with PCOS. From what I read a lot of women with PCOS get pregnant thanks to metformin. I haven't taken it in years (since 2008) because I also had terrible side effects with that. I've had more complications with the medicines the doctors give me for my condition than the complications from the disease. I've done tons of research about it. In 2010 I decided to follow a more natural way to treat the disease and that was by exercising (lots of cardio) daily, increasing my water (I still had pop and sugary drinks sometimes, and eating healthier (more whole foods, less processed). I only lost between 10 and 15 pounds, but I felt like I had a new body. I could feel things inside working better. I also have a lot of digestive problems. Changing those habits helped my digestive system, too. Everything worked better. I really didn't change what I ate, just how I ate. Instead of buying pre-made, in the box or can foods, I try to buy raw materials and try to make everything homemade from scratch. It's hard to break away from things like bread and pasta, but I still do try. And if things are dirt cheap on sale I will still buy them and use especially when I have company coming over and more people to cook for. I think changing my own personal habits has done more for me than any doctor or medicine has ever done. And even though I wasn't having a period for long periods of time I think my body was working itself out. I still felt great and I didn't get that crazy weight gain I usually did when I'd go months without a period. Sorry this is so long. :/ Just wanted to share my experience with it.

I am now 37 years old and for past 5 years we are trying to conceive. We tried several treatments but nothing happen. I am very irregular in my period ( sometimes 1 to 2 years) and the doctor told me that it is difficult for me to conceived. They give me pills and medications but it did not help until I give up and told my husband that I accept the fact that I will never get pregnant. For one year I don't have period but this year last May I got my period and last only for 5 days (last period 25 May). We went for extreme games and adventure on Sep for 20 days and when we came back I feel a lot of changes in my body so I thought because I am only exhausted but when we go for general check up the doctor told us that I am pregnant and through ultra sound I am already 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant. We were both shock ( me and my husband) the doctor ask of my last period and when I told her she could not also believe. So I guess miracle happen and if it will be for you it will be given.... There are experts doctors to help you but there is also blessing from God. So I would say that it do happen that you will get pregnant even if you don't have always your period but not totally none. I had in May but none from June to July and as check I get conceived in August.

So I haven't had my period in about a year. It's not irregular, I just don't get it. Is it possible to ovulate if you don't get your period, or can you get pregnant if you don't get it at all. It used to be irregular but then just stopped getting it. I'm worried because my boyfriend never pulls out when we have sex, and it's like everyday.

Juanita - December 22

I have been trying for a baby for the last 5 years now and we have had no luck.I don't have a regular cycle so it is hard for me to tell when i am ovulating or not, but we always have sex at least 2 times a week, sometimes more. I know it can take up to a year to conceive but everyone i know who have had a baby have conceived within 2-3 months of trying, we had a fertility test about a year ago and my womb were fine. I'm thinking it could be a problem with me but I've never had any symptoms of any problems. My partner does smoke and have the occasional drink, and i used to smoke and also have the occasional drink. i know i am slightly overweight but that shouldn't affect our chances too much, one faithful day my friend told me to contact a spell caster that help her aunt ,then i contact the man on this email: fiokporspiritualtemple AT gmail. com after few weeks the doctor confirm that i am pregnant thank you DR Fiokpor for helping us get a baby
