I am 43 and have a uterine prolapse and fybroids. My ob/gyn has recommended a hysterectomy but wants to leave my ovaries. I have a family history of pancreatic and other cancers but not ovarian or cervical. Is it really necessary to leave my ovaries? It just seems like it is setting me up to need another surgery in 10 years. I have already started having hot flashes and very heavy periods. They just put me on a low dose bc pill to help with the bleeding. It was almost non stop. I'm just wondering if I should get a second opinion or push to have her take out the ovaries or just trust her.
