Lower left abdomenal pain before menstrual cycle.

I had an emergency C section in 2002. It hurt for what seemed like forever, but when I was examined the doctor said everything was fine. Ever since, for 2 to 3 days before my period I hurt in my abdomen and get very bloated and constipated. This is severe pain that causes hot flashes, weakness and nausea. Sometimes the pain involves the entire lower abdomen, but it is always worse on the left side. It ALWAYS involves the scar. I get exhausted, dizzy can't think exhausted. Once I start, the pain becomes a little more than moderate to severe menstrual cramps instead of abdominal cramps and only lasts for a day to a day and a half with heavy flow. Then it is normal for a couple of days. What is this? I'm kinda tired of hearing there is nothing wrong when there obviiously is, so much so I gave up on gynocologists in my area.

Hi There,

I have had the same left sided pain plus all the other complications since I started my periods aged 14. I have been told that the pain is Ovulation pain and it can be so severe that I have passed out and ended up in hospital! I have had several laparoscpys done and the scar tissue left behind does become painful in the run up to my period. I have found that the best thing to do is take docusate (dulcolax) in the few days before my period, it helps prevent the constipation which in turn takes away alot of the pain!! The only thing I would be wanting to rule out if I were you would be that there were no cysts on your left ovary, mention it to your GP and I'm sure they will check it out for you. I hope this helps a little :)
