i have had my period for ten days very very heavy i had it twice last month with alot of pain . what would causr this?

my period stop for 7weeks and 4days and the day to make the 8 week it came down i start to spot after i saw light blood and now i am seeing clots heavy it easy up and start againmy doc give me some pill name colimd this is my first time every takeing this pill and this is the first time i have this problems and my period is on how long do this last i need to no can some one please tell me
