Plastic surgery is a pricey endeavor and it's prudent to weigh the decision for or against cosmetic surgery side by side with your ability to pay for quality work. Sticker Shock
Please consider the fact that other costs may or may not be included. Make sure to ask your doctor if the fees include all of the following: surgeon's fee, anesthesia fee, operating room fee, and implant fees. It is the usual practice for the physician to quote only the surgeon's fee, and this fee represents only 60-80% of the total cost. If you don't ask about the other fees, be prepared to receive a big dose of sticker shock.
While the prices of the various cosmetic procedures remain about the same from state to state, be prepared to pay about 50% more in the New York area. Don't try to save money by having surgery in a less than perfect setting. Make sure you have your procedure done in an accredited facility.
It's not usual for plastic surgery costs to be covered by regular health insurance, but cosmetic surgeons tend to accommodate patients, working with them to determine the best way to cover the costs of surgery. Your doctor may know about ways to finance loans for such surgery or he may offer to allow you to pay on an installment plan.
