Hysterectomy
I am 47 years old and had a complete abdominal hysterectomy. I also had a bladder repair (Burch procedure). It has been 3 months and I feel great.
Hysterectomy
I recently had a total abdominal hysterectomy because of a very large (10 cm) ovarian cyst). I have since experienced fatigue, insomnia, slight depression and night sweats. I am unable to take hormone replacement therapy because of breast cysts and a family history of cancer and blood clots. Has anyone tried herbal supplements? I would love to hear from anyone who is experiencing the same.
Hysterectomy
After several years of dealing with severe pelvic pain, at the age of 40(Oct99) I underwent a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy, with ovaries removed(LAVH/BSO). I had a very positive experience, and am now pain free. I am currently on the Vivelle® patch, and using progesterone cream. In my opinion my surgical pain was less than what I was enduring every month with my periods. I would like to lend support to anyone considering or recovering from this procedure.
Hysterectomy
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy at age 22 for abnormal uterine bleeding/dysfunctional uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain and a family history of reproductive and breast cancers. I am married, the mother of two, a former Women's Health Advisory Board Member for OBGYN.net(volunteer). I've had training as a Patient Care Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant, and Nursing Assistant. My interests are: researching womens health issues, volunteering my time at various women's health websites, continuing my education in the Nursing Field, and spending time with my family.
Hysterectomy
I am 44 yrs. old. Have had endometriosis for the past 10 years. Very heavy bleeding, pelvic & back pain. I have a sister dead from ovarian cancer, a mom from breast cancer, another sister who had her second breast removed to cancer. I had a ruptured ovarian cyst in late October, & decided to have hysterectomy, ovaries, & cervix removed. I'm glad I did it. I did have hemorrhaging during surgery, had required blood transfusions, then developed pneumonia 3 weeks later. Now I am happy to report I am feeling much better. I can't take estrogen because of the cancer, so am trying vitamin/herb therapy. So far so good!
Hysterectomy linda
I am a 51 year old woman, wife and mother of 2 teenage girls, 13 and 16. I live with 2 chronic lung diseases, have been infertile, had a hysterectomy 2 years ago, and am dealing with surgical menopause now using vitamins and herbs.
Hysterectomy
I am a 49 year old woman who avoided a hysterectomy even though I had a adenomyosis, the sister disease to endometriosis. Five doctors told me I needed my uterus removed due to extremely heavy bleeding and agonizing pain. I finally found a doctor who was willing to perform a myomectomy (Female Reconstructive Surgery) and salvage what I believe is a very vital organ. My mission is to inform women of their options, get them the support they need and to discuss the documented drawbacks of hysterectomy.
Hysterectomy
I am a 27 year old mother of 3 ages 9,5,and 3. I was diagnosed with endometriosis 1 1/2 years after my third child was born. I had been have pelvic pain since I was 16 years old and never sought medical treatment for it. I underwent a diagnostic laparoscopy in December 1997. Within 3 months of surgery I was back at the doctor's office for Pelvic Pain again, this time worse. I went on Lupron for 6 months to no avail. Then in December 1998 I underwent a vaginal hysterectomy with removal of my left ovary and fallopian tube. At that my doctor informed my husband and I that there was a lot of endometriosis. I am now currently pain free, except for problems with some form of glaucomas(type of crystals) forming on my incision site that is very tender.

Infertility
I am 36 yo. Tried every IVF procedure (3 times)- no success. Poor responder to medications. I am now resting, pursuing acupuncture and getting myself healed. Will be attempting Donor Egg in two years, hopefully once I obtain $$$$.
Infertility
I am 27...and have been on Depo-provera for about 3 years. Last April I came off it and am still waiting for my periods and ovulation to return. I am scared that it isnt going to and would love to hear from someone who has been through this.
Infertility
I am a full time wife, and mother of 2. Part time student. I experienced secondary infertility after the birth of my first child. My diagnosis at the time(1986) was Unexplained Infertility. I have since learned that I have a uterine anomaly which most likely caused my problems conceiving. I did try fertility drugs, but became pregnant spontaneously while waiting for another round of treatment. After our second child was born we tried unsuccessfully to conceive for eight years.
Infertility
I am a 51 year old woman, wife and mother of 2 teenage girls, 13 and 16. I live with 2 chronic lung diseases, have been infertile, had a hysterectomy 2 years ago, and am dealing with surgical menopause now using vitamins and herbs.

Interstitial Cystitis
38 y.o. mother of 1 (thru adoption), suffer from interstitial cystitis and also have endometriosis. I am a registered nurse.
Interstitial Cystitis
I am 25 yrs old and living with interstitial cystitis. I was diagnosed one month ago thanks to my boyfriend's mother!!! I have since gone for a cystoscopy and hydrodistention and the healing process has been slow. I am taking Elavil and I am trying to think positively. I would like to chat with someone who is dealing with this too. I don't know where to turn.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
I am a 29 year old, college educated sufferer of IBS, panic disorder, chronic neck and shoulder pain, and recently had a partial vulvectomy as a result of vulvar dysplasia (pre-cancerous vulvar cells). I am interested in discussing the above topics with others.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
I was diagnosed with HPV in 1993. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy at age 22 for abnormal uterine bleeding/dysfunctional uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain and a family history of reproductive and breast cancers. I am married, the mother of two, a former Women's Health Advisory Board Member for OBGYN.net (volunteer). I've had training as a Patient Care Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant, and Nursing Assistant. My interests are: researching womens health issues, volunteering my time at various women's health websites, continuing my education in the Nursing Field, and spending time with my family.
Low carbohydrate diets
I am a full time wife, and mother of 2. Part time student. I have been eating a low carb diet since August of 96. I started with the Atkins plan, lost over 50 pounds, and have kept it off.
Menopause
I am a 51 year old woman, wife and mother of 2 teenage girls, 13 and 16. I live with 2 chronic lung diseases, have been infertile, had a hysterectomy 2 years ago, and am dealing with surgical menopause now using vitamins and herbs.
Ovulatory pain
I'm a 38 year old mother of one 17 year old. I started experiencing pain during ovulation about 2 years ago. It doesn't occur every month. It's always on the right side. The pain is a sudden, acute onset. I suppose the best description is that it feels like getting stabbed. It lasts approximately 1 hour (I take ibuprophen immediately). The last occurence was the most painful and has, two days later, left me "tender" in the uterine area. I would love to hear from anyone else who may be or have had experienced this and what they have found out about it. All my gyn exams have been normal.
Ovulatory pain
I am 29 years old with 3 children. I have been suffering from ovulatory pain for the last 5 months. It is getting worse each month. Most of the pain is on the left side. It comes like clockwork at the same time each month. Only now it lasts a lot longer(several days). I was recently put on the pill to see if that would control the pain. Some of the other symptoms I have with this is bloating, upper stomach discomfort and indigestion. I don't know of anyone else who suffers from this, but I would love to hear from somebody.
Polycystic Ovarian syndrome
I am a 34 year old experiencing infertility due to Polycystic Ovary syndrome. Symptoms include difficulty losing weight, pain and heavy bleeding during periods, excessive facial and body hair. In the USA they are experimenting with plants used to help men with prostate gland problems.
Postpartum Depression
I am a 36 year old mother of two children who are 8 and 3 years old. I experienced severe postpartum depression/anxiety immediately after the birth of both. The worst of it lasted about 2 months and then subsided. I did not use drugs the first time around however, with my son I did. It really did not help. My husband thought I was over reacting and told me to get over it. I know how difficult it can be and the feelings are not just in your head and you can't get over it at will. This is not just the "baby blues". I felt like killing myself almost every day . I suffered hot flashes at night and sweated like crazy, had no appetite, and felt like I was going crazy. There were times in the day when my heart would pound so fast it felt as if it would pop out. Napping was impossible because I would have a panic attack when I tried to lay down during the day. I would be very willing to be a support person for someone.
Pregnancy Loss
I was diagnosed with HPV in 1993. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy at age 22 for abnormal uterine bleeding/dysfunctional uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain and a family history of reproductive and breast cancers. I have miscarried 3 times, and one of these included "vanishing twin" syndrome.
Toxemia/preeclampsia
At 28 weeks of pregnancy I developed very high blood pressure, I needed bed rest and was not allowed to walk.I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. I had high doses of medicine every day. At 32 weeks I went into shock and they delivered the baby right away by c-section. I was very sick and had to stay in the intensive care for almost a week. My biggest problem was that I was not allowed to see my perfectly healthy baby girl weighing only 1295 grams. This was very hard on me being so sick knowing you gave birth to a child and not knowing how she feels, looks like and smells. She is 2 years old now and we both made it. It was tough and I would like to try help other women, who went through the same and even the dads because it is tough on them too.
Uterine prolapse
I am a 60 year old house wife and never had any health problems until this uterine prolapse. I do believe that women need to be informed of pessary treatment for prolapse. It is working wonders for me. I have no problem taking it out and cleaning and putting back in. There is no falling of the bladder now or the need to go all the time to the bathroom.
Uterine prolapse
I am 50 years old and was diagnosed with uterine prolapse 2 years ago. The only treatment offered was hysterectomy, which I want to avoid. I am "living with the problem" and hoping new procedures will become available!! My bladder and rectum are also prolapsed. I would like to talk with others who are having this problem and learn how they are dealing with it and any information they may have.
Uterine prolapse
I'm 36, have pelvic prolapse and have cruised the web and researched a number of options outsite to determine where and if there are alternatives to getting a hyst to correct prolapse. It seems there are quite a number of things that can be done although finding the right doctor and getting reliable information is difficult. I have found a urogynocologist who I hope will do the corrective surgery for me, but I'm waiting until things are a bit more stable in my home life. I know of a number of women who have had a successful resuspension and will gladly share all the information that I have.

Vaginal numbness, sensation loss
There has been loss of sensation of feeling in the vagina after giving birth to my children. I wonder how many other women this has happened to? Dr.'s aren't much help!!
Vulvar Dysplasia Marge
I had surgery (laser) 4 years ago for VIN III and carcinoma in situ. Since then I have been irritated. I am checked frequently. The laser surgery was 4-5 mm. deep. I want to know how others are being treated for VIN, since I had a VIN I reading recently. I also want to know what side effects others have had from surgery. I am not sure, but I think the vestibule was lasered off. I understand there is a new cream that is used for treating VIN II that kills the virus. Has anyone used it? I really would like to e-mail or correspond with others that have had this problem, because I feel so awkward being the only one with it. Thanks.
Vulvar Dysplasia
I am 47 and was diagnosed with VIN 3 last year. I had the surgery in Oct of 98 and have been following up with a gyn oncologist every 3 months. I know how hard it is to find someone else who has gone through this.
Vulvar Dysplasia
I am a 49 yr old female, and have had the symptoms of vulvar dysplasia for about 9 years. It stays the same so far as I can tell, and intercourse it impossible now for a couple of years. The tissue is too easily ripped. I don't want to have the vulvectomy unless I have no choice. What can I do? My Dr told me it would not help or cure it, but would cause more problems.

I am a 41 yr. old disabled home maker.I have many health problems but manage to smile everyday.

I am a 29 year old, college educated sufferer of IBS, panic disorder, chronic neck and shoulder pain, and recently had a partial vulvectomy as a result of vulvar dysplasia (pre-cancerous vulvar cells). I am interested in discussing the above topics with others.

Vulvar vestibulitis
21 year old college student, diagnosed with HPV/vulvar dysplasia and vestibulitis last year. Dysplasia was treated with nitrogen, and is gone for now, but the vestibulitis has become my primary problem. I have pain on intercourse, and am being treated with low dose anti-depressants for chronic pain relief. I am very interested in and open to discussing my experiences with others, answering questions if I can, and discussing treatment options and other's experiences with vestibulitis.
Vulvar vestibulitis
I am a 30 year old newlywed who had a vestibulectomy the day after her honeymoon. I have been cleared to have intercourse by my doctor. After attemping to do so, we were unsuccessful. The pain was too much and it felt like it was tearing something inside of me. I don't know where to turn now.
Vulvar pain/vulvodynia
I am 22 and newly married, I have been suffering from vulvar pain since the age of 7 (basically since I can remember). I have a long history of antibiotic use and believe that it has contributed to my problems. I have tried various treatments short of surgery. I would love to hear from others about their experiences with intimacy with partners. At times I find it really difficult being in a relationship. As much as I know how much my husband loves me it's hard not to feel sexually inadequate! Any advice on getting over these insecurities?
Vulvar pain/vulvodynia
I am a twenty six year old, who has had vulvodynia for about three years. I have had a lot of success with coping with it. I would be happy to share advice, or recieve advice on the topic.
