when its okay to start the pill

Is it possible to start the pill before your cycle has started? I stopped taking birth control my last cycle but i've decided I want to take it again, but now my period is late and I want to go back on the pill as I plan on being sexually active again. If it is not dangerous I would rather be on the pill than not.... would I be able to do this?

Normally it is reccomended that you must wait until your next period before taking it to ensure that you are not pregnant, since you can't take the Pill when you are pregnant. So I suggest just using condoms and spermacide until your period comes, and then resuming use as usual. Even though when you stop taking the pill your period usually comes late, it is still best to confirm that you are not pregnant before taking them again.
