i am a 23 year unmarried woman. 7 years back i went to a doctor with severe stomach pain. ultrasound showed a dermoid cyst 7 cm in dia in my right ovary. i had a laprotomy and it was removed. sometime after that i started experiencing pain, nausea, abdominal swelling after any exertion and irregular periods. finally last year february i visited the doctor again and the scan showed a dermoid cyst 9 cm in dia in my left ovary and a simple cyst 3 cm in dia in the right ovary. i again had surgery but few months later the same symptoms returned. i had a scan again about 3 weeks back and it showed a cyst 3 cm in dia in right ovary.
i want to know 1] why i keep having these cysts? 2] will all this affect my chances of being pregnant after marriage, if yes how much? 3] is there some way to stop them from occuring? 4] all through these years, i have had severe abdominal pain in my lower left side even though the first time and the recent time my cyst is in right side. why is it so? 5] are there lots of women who have had similar problems?
